Once fish is filleted, it begins to deteriorate immediately, sometimes up to ten times faster than when it is whole on ice. At Codfathers we ship all of our fish whole wherever possible, using trained fishmongers in store to cut them at the last possible minute.

Fishmongers can prepare fish in a number of different ways to suit your cooking needs, so always check with your fishmonger if your particular cut is suitable for how you wish to prepare it.

Codfathers uses a four point check system to grade our fish.

Codfathers has a qualified (Red Seal) chef on staff to advise you on cooking techniques.

Codfathers also has a marine biologist on staff, who specializes in live shellfish.*

Codfathers will cook your crab or lobster for you, or fillet-prepare your large whole fish for no extra charge.

At Codfathers, many of our products are traceable right back to the fishing vessel that caught them, information that is available on our shelf edge tickets.

We also display nutritional information on main species in the store. If you require information on other species, we have access to a database in store and can readily find that out for you.

Codfathers Ahi Tuna is cut from Bigeye and Yellowfin Tuna which has been caught using Pole or Troll methods, which avoids any destructive bycatch of marine Mammals, Birds and Fish.

The fishermen that supply Codfathers Lobsters use specially weighted lines to avoid accidental entrapment and drowning of Northern Atlantic Right Whales.

Codfathers receives fresh shipments of seafood often by airfreight six days a week, every week of the year!
